Mark D. Solano is a member of the government relations team at Cruise autonomous vehicles (AV), specializing in advocating for Cruise's interests in the southeastern region of the United States. His extensive experience in the AV tech field includes a previous role as the Engagement Manager for Nuro, where he managed relationships with municipalities, policymakers, and agencies. In this capacity, Mark played a crucial role in advocating for Nuro’s interests at both state and local levels, including the creation of Texas’ first AV technology certificate for aspiring students.

Before his time at Nuro, Mark served as the Senior Manager for Outreach Strategists, where he spearheaded large-scale public projects. His notable achievements include serving as the Executive Director for The Bayou City Initiative, overseeing the Federal Census for various municipalities, steering the Galveston Bay Park Project initiative, contributing to the successful veto reversal of the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act, and championing multiple single-issue items in the Texas legislature.

Mark's career is marked by a commitment to effective government relations, strategic advocacy, and successful project management. His experience positions him as an asset in navigating the complex landscape of emerging technologies, political strategy, and coalition management - making a significant impact on the national level.

Mark is a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum, serves as the Transition Co-Chair for Commissioner Dexter McCoy, and is a Board Member of BluePrint Houston, playing pivotal roles in shaping community initiatives. He is also a Member of the Houston LGBT+ Caucus, advocating for inclusivity and representation.

Mark is an alumnus of the University of Houston, where he earned his Bachelor's degree, and holds a Master's in Public Policy & Public Administration from the University of St. Thomas.
